Jagtar Singh Johal (Jaggi), a Sikh human rights activist and blogger was abducted by the Punjab Police whilst shopping with his newly wed wife on 4th November 2017. For 10 days his exact location was unknown, the Punjab Police told Jaggi’s family that he was in Faridkot when in fact Jaggi was taken to a remote police station in Bagha Purana and tortured for 3 days with electric shocks to soft tissue areas and having his legs stretched beyond their limits.

In the first 10 days the Punjab Police harassed and intimidated Jaggi’s family, his wife and aunt went into hiding have been in hiding since. The Free Jaggi Now Campaign is to create international awareness about Jaggi and since its launch has seen the Sikh Sangat lobby politicians, celebrities and the wider world which resulted in the direct involvement of the British government who have stated they will take “extreme action” if Jaggi has been tortured.
